TowerClimb
This game was made for the CanDev Canberra Games Game Jam, July 2024.
The theme was to include "Canberra" in some way.
It runs much smoother on Windows (download link somewhere below) compared to the browser version.
TowerClimb is a platformer game set in Canberra, Australia.
Run, jump, and climb your way up Telstra Tower (Black Mountain Tower) to rescue your lost artwork.
Controls
Run with the arrow keys, or the A and D keys.
Jump with the space bar or the C key. The longer you hold it, the higher your jump.
You will automatically grip to ledges.
Push up to climb up them, or run in the direction you're facing when grabbing, or you can jump up/off too.
X key will let go of the ledge.
If you get really stuck or the game does something weird, press the R key to restart at a nearby checkpoint.
When playing the game, the Q key will quit you out to the main menu.
The Windows version of the game can also use the Escape key to quit the game.
Known issues
Some browsers don't animate and run as swiftly as a platformer game would normally need. This makes the input feel a bit laggy, and some slower browsers (not computer speed, but the browser itself limits the framerate) might not let you grab ledges as easily as you should be able to.
You can download and run the Windows version of the game for a much smoother experience with better input response and ledge grabbing.

I'll update the credits soon when I retrace my steps for which CC0 Freesound sounds I used. I mixed a couple of electricity sounds as well as treadmill sounds, plus the death sound.
If you like the music, I am also on Spotify and other platforms under the name Fat Agnus.
Made in Unity for a 48-hour game jam where we had 1 week in which to use our 48 hours (very much appreciated this family and work-friendly timeframe!)

Install instructions
For the Windows app of the game, unzip the file and then run the TowerClimb.exe file.
Press Escape to quit out of the game.
Some virus protection software might give you a warning about the exe file as it's new and an unverified publisher (me), but it is safe to run.
If you run multiple monitors and the game starts up on a monitor you didn't want it on, hold Shift+Windows keys and tap the left and right arrow keys to move the game to another screen.

Neat game, music is fairly loud though
Thanks for playing :)
I'm thinking of some post-jam fixes for this, so I'll add adjustable music and sound effects volume to the list.
